About the Lomi Lomi Treatment
- Lomi Lomi is a method and system of massage which has its roots in a tradition which is hundreds of years old.
- Lomi Lomi is the Hawaiian word for massage. Literally meaning push, pull and knead.
- “Old Style” Lomi Lomi combines almost endless technique, with “the laying on of hands”, both in passive mode and active massage of Lomi Lomi.
- Performed with the open hand, rhythm is paramount, the strokes are continuous, and ultimately hypnotic, which acts to bring the mind to a place of absolute stillness. This “sanctuary” of the quiet mind is where true healing manifests.
- With Lomi Lomi all areas of the body are treated: back, legs, feet, arms, hands, abdomen, and head.
- The treatment promotes a deep state of relaxation helping to relieve tired, aching muscles and reduce stress stored within the body.
- A Lomi Lomi treatment typically includes the use of hot stones held in the hands of the therapist and manipulated into muscle tissue creating a softening and relaxing of the muscles.
- The massage oil (or cream) used for your treatment includes a subtle blend of essential oils: peppermint, sweet orange, lemongrass, eucalyptus and rose. It is a light oil which has nourishing properties for the skin.
- During the treatment, your body will be draped with a sarong or light weight cotton towel in a way that still allows for the long body strokes.
- Talking during the treatment is minimal, allowing both the therapist and recipient to calm their mind and achieve a deep state of relaxation.
"As a remedial Massage Therapist who has received most forms of massage, I can honestly say that a Lomi Lomi massage is by far the most enjoyable treatment that I have ever experienced. I can't imagine ever going back to the standard treatments on offer elsewhere" … Gary
